A Fresh Start

I was always referred to as the quiet one from any one of many famous duos. Mickey and I are inseparable. Of course he's very outgoing and I'm very quiet. It also doesn't help that he's 6'4 and 200 pounds, and I'm a meager 5'6 and weigh in at a whopping 145 pounds. We've been compared to the likes of "Jay and Silent Bob", "Penn and Teller" and just about any tall/short or loud/quiet duo you can think of.

Last year for Halloween we went as Lenny and Squiggy. We had the outfits down perfectly. We looked great, and everyone thought it fit us. Except no one recalls Squiggy not saying a word. All night I was getting advice on certain lines that squigs had on the show that I should be saying.......it's not like I've never seen a fucking episode before.

That's the pain in the ass part of being so quiet. I always get people giving me advice as to things I could be saying. Another thing I can't stand anymore is when I'm with my group of friends, and I always get that one person who tells me "shut the fuck up, you talk way too much". This joke never gets old....you'd think it would, after the tenth time in one night.

There are some benefits of being so quiet also. When I'm with someone, they always do the talking, no matter how much they would rather not, since they know I sure as hell won't. Also, have you ever run in to someone that you and your friends just can't stand? Well, this has happened a few times to my and Mickey, and I never have to talk to them. If we're in a store, I'll continue to do something else, while Mickey gets stuck talking to the person we can't stand.

Those days are all over for me now. This Blog is part of a fresh start in my life. I'm being more outgoing and assertive in conversations with others. I'm also reading more frequently to boost my knowledge. If anyone has a good book to recommend, feel free to let me know.
