New Book

I was at the book store Friday night with Mickey. This is a situation that I usually hate. Now that I'm reading all the time and getting advice on books from friends, I found this a more enticing situation.

As I was perusing the store, I came across an interesting book. The book is called "Reefer Madness".

How can you go wrong with pot and porn. I had to read this. I decided that "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" could wait a week. There is some intriguing info in this book that really opens your eyes to things, and I'm not even half way into it.

I guess this is part of the new me. I used to be be quiet and shy, but now you better look the fuck out for this bad mamma jamma.

Bad situation all around

A terrible thing happened to a fellow co-worker this week. His wife gave birth to their second child, and unfortunately the baby didn't make it. We were all very upset to hear this news. So when it was brought up that we should send a card, I was all in for that. We thought that it might cheer him up, just knowing we were there for him.

To me, the card was a good idea. To others, they thought we should do more. This is where I almost ran into trouble. One fellow worker thought it was a good idea to collect money to give as a gift. I don't feel the same way. I don't know if everyone would agree, but I feel my reasons are valid.

First, the guy works in a different department, and makes double what I do. He's much more well off than me. I struggle some weeks to make it. Also the person collecting made such a big deal on how God would bless you if you gave. Is that how to receive God's blessing, by giving money? If that's what you think gets you God's blessing, than go ahead and give away your money. I know better.

It's not that I wouldn't give money if the situation called for it. A year earlier a different co-worker had cancer. He was out of work for a few months receiving treatment. He had no form of income at the time. I was more than happy to donate what I could in this situation.

Luckily, I was able to avoid the fellow collecting. I just didn't want to start an argument in such a trying time. Emotions could have been running high, and who knows what could've happen. I just don't like being told what is right or wrong with how I spend my cash. I work too hard everyday for that.

No Bush is Good Bush

I'm all for protesting to get that idiot out of office, but this may have gone too far. Let me ask you this: Have you ever seen anything this disgusting before? I dont think that I would trust that bush either. Who knows what the hell is hiding out in there. If that even slightly resembles her bush, someone please get her some hedge clippers!!!

On my way

If you've read my earlier post, I'm trying to enhance my social skills. One thing I'm starting to do is read. Hopefully, this will help a number of aspects of my social life.

The first book I completed, Into The Wild, was written by John Krakauer. A book that I would recommend to anyone. It's about a free spirit who follows his dream of going off to live in the wild of Alaska.

This book has been great for me socially. I've already run into people who have read it, and it's giving me something to discuss with them, instead of being so quiet. It also leads the conversation into other topics.

The next book that I've started reading is The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. I'm not so sure that this will help me at all, but it seems interesting. You know, this might just set me back a few steps with all the hippy lingo. I've had to go back over parts, because I had no clue what the fuck it was saying. I've thought about reading it high, thinking that maybe everything will just make perfect sense then.

If you have any opinions on either of these books, let me hear them. Or like I said in different post, recommend a book to me and maybe I'll try reading it.

What was that name????

I couldn't believe my ears today when they called this customer over the intercom. It went a little like this: "Will Large Hooker please come to the front desk...." I'm not shitting you. This fucking guy's name was Large Hooker. The person making the page immediately received calls from all over the building to verify this name. I rushed over to see the paperwork, and there it was, Large Hooker.

My God, what were his parents thinking? This poor guy must have had to fight his entire life because of that name. He was a rather large black man, so that probably helped him avoid some fights.

I don't think that there could be a legit name funnier then this one. If you honestly know of one, please let me know. I would love to hear it.

Mmm, Mmm, Good

Over the weekend we had a few friends come by to hang out. One particular friend has been trying for months to get me to have one of his homemade pot cookies. Like there is anything else but homemade, right? I usually refuse, since it never seems like the right time. I was leery to eat one of these fabulous treats, because it takes a while to kick in, and lasts for some time. Or so I've been told.

This weekend would be different. I finally gave into temptation. I took just a small bite, not too much because I've heard that it's much stronger and can hit you really hard. After a while, I felt nothing. Disappointed, I took just a little more. About fifteen minutes later, (actually I have no clue how long it took.....fifteen minutes just sounds good) it finally kicked in.

I'm not some big drug user. I just prefer getting high to drinking sometimes, and let me tell you, this was one of the best highs I have ever had. What the fuck was my hold up!??!!? I should have tried this long ago. I could kick myself in the ass for waiting so long. It lasted much longer, and I didn't get tired at all. I was in such a good mood, that I agreed to go out to the bar with Mickey after everyone had left. If you talk to Mickey, he'll tell you that I'm always asleep the minute after people walk out the door.

Dog Party Gone Bad

Yesterday I attended a dog party of some very good friends of mine. The party was for their dog's first birthday. In the year that they have had their dog, they have met lots of people at the local dog park, and have formed a circle of friends who get together weekly and go for walks.

So, when me and Mickey are invited, we jump at the chance to socialize our dogs with other dogs. I thought this also would be a great chance for me to start being more talkative and outgoing. Little did we know what we were in for.

We were the first people to arrive. So far so good. Our dogs got along terrific with the host's dog, and they played while we talked and drank. Then the weirdness started. The people started coming with their pets one after the other. These were some of the strangest people I have ever encountered. These are people our friends would have looked at years ago and made jokes about.

Needless to say that my attempt to be more outgoing was a bust. I loved being the quiet guy that day. When encountered by one of these goofs, I would immediately find the nearest dog and start playing with him/her. Not only was I not getting along with these rejects, neither was our one dog. She must have found some of these fellow dogs as annoying as I found their owners. She was attacking a few of them at times, and nearly was at a point where I thought she was going to kill this little piece of shit that was owned by the wackiest of them all. The owner was loud, and she actually was being pursued by Extreme Makeover. (Everyone knows how fucked up you have to look to be on that show.....believe me she needed it) To prove how stupid she is, she turned them down.

I think that's the last dog party I will be attending. My dogs and I will find other ways to be more social. I think having friends for your pets is a good thing, but the owner has to be somewhat........somewhat not fucked in the head I guess would be the words I'm thinking of.
